In the aftermath of World War II, the development of Ukrainian Riding Horses marked a significant advancement in equine breeding. The primary focus was on creating a versatile and robust breed by integrating the superior qualities of Trakehners, Hanoverians, and Thoroughbred studs. These breeds were renowned for their endurance, agility, and speed, making them ideal candidates for producing a new lineage of performance horses.
The mares selected for this breeding program were predominantly of Hungarian descent, known for their strength and resilience. The combination of these Hungarian mares with the aforementioned studs resulted in a new breed that inherited the best traits from both sides. The offspring were characterized by their athletic build, grace, and adaptability, which made them suitable for a range of equestrian disciplines.
