About[]
Saddles and girths are a necessary part of riding. It is possible to ride bareback, but to show it is generally required that you have tack. Most people learn to ride with a saddle, girth, and bridle.
Saddles[]
Introduction[]
Saddles are generally made from leather but can be substituted for different materials. There are two main variants of saddles you can obtain, Western, and English. Both of these styles are common and easy to find worldwide. There are also many saddles for handicap people as well. No matter what you are looking for, there is most likely a saddle for that purpose.
English Saddles[]
English saddles are smaller than western saddles, and do not feature horns. Most lesson stables teach English riding. Instead of a horn, in the front of an English saddle there is the pommel, and opposite to that a cantle. In the middle of those is the seat, where a rider will sit. The stirrups hold your feet and the girth straps allow a rider to tighten their girth. The knee flap is where you will place your knees.

Handicap Saddles[]
Horse Saddles for Handicap Riders [1]
There are custom saddles designed and meant for people with disabilities. These saddles have a cushion with a strap that will attach them to the cushion. This prevents the rider from falling off the horse.
